The Heart of Yoga, Developing A Personal Practice
by T.K.V. Desikachar
Recently, while listening to Yogaland Podcast by Andrea Ferretti & Jason Crandell . I was reminded of one of my first yoga books, The Heart of Yoga. This book was required for the Yoga Teacher Training course I began in 2005. Later, when I started offering Yoga Teacher Trainings this book was a staple to the required reading. I currently own 2 copies, both tabbed, dog eared, book marked, highlighted, etc. I have read, re-read, referred and recommended this book time and again over the years.
In this podcast, Jason mentions that The Heart of Yoga is wonderful book to recommend. That it is a beginner to forever book. In another podcast Jason mentions Part III, The Yoga Sutra of Pantanjali as one of his favored translations of the sutras. I currently have my copy out. I'm revisiting the the Sutras. I'm thoroughly enjoying the original Devanagari script with a Sanskrit transliteration, plus commentary.
If you're looking for a yoga book that you can use forever. The Heart of Yoga, Developing a Personal Practice is comprehensive and informative by T.K.V. Desikachar.
